The Jamaican Men's 4x100m relay team set a new world record of 37.04 seconds at the World Athletic Championships in Daegu, South Korea, on September 4, 2011
The United States botched their last exchange and were out of the running, but no one could have gotten close to the Jamaican team anchored by Usain Bolt.
After a lightning start from Nesta Carter and a good handover to Michael Frater, Jamaica's golden duo took over. Yohan Blake, the 100m champion following Bolt's false start and disqualification, powered through the final bend and passed the baton to the 200m champion.
Already getting his giant stride going before he took the baton, Bolt was devastating down the home stretch. With a sheer release of power he produced an overwhelming win over France and Saint Kitts & Nevis and threw his gold-clad chest across the line for a time of 37.04 seconds -- the only world record in nine days of competition.
